We report this week on UK asparagus reaching the supermarket shelves in time for Valentine’s Day. The season for pretty much all fresh produce now runs for months rather than weeks.

Yet for some reason the Seville orange season still seems to pass in the blink of an eye. Unless you’re in the supermarket during the appointed three hours on the morning of the third Tuesday in January, or whatever ephemeral moment it is that they stock them, you’ve had it. Grrr.
